Bauchi Governor Suspends LGA Boss for Perpetual Abscond from Meetings

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has suspended Chairman Caretaker Committee of Ningi Local Government Area, Hon. Nura Dan Maishari'a over 'absconding from meetings'.
The Governor said Maishari'a's "lackadaisical attitude" was a dereliction of responsibilities which negates his administration's purpose.
Bala announced the suspension in a letter addressed to Maishari'a on Thursday night and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Sabi'u Baba.
He said, "It was note that you have not been engaging the Local Government stakeholders in managing the Local Government affairs. This act violates the principles of representative government like ours.
"Similarly, the Local Government is witnessing indiscriminate felling of trees under watch, which is inimical to the avowed commitment of the present administration in combatting desertification and environmental issues."
The Governor said Maishari'a also deliberately refused to recognise the recently appointed LG Council Secretary, whose nomination was in the interest of Ningi.
Bala said the suspension is with immediate effect and subsequently investigates him before taking action. He instructed the suspended LG Boss to hand over to his deputy. By Rauf Oyewole, Guardian Newspaper.
