Hisbah Operatives Raid 15 Gay Suspects in Kano.


Operatives of Kano Hisbah board have arrested 15 suspected homosexuals at a location in Sabuwar Gandu quarters in the metropolis.
Deputy Commander General, Operations of Hisbah, Shehu Tasiu Ishaq who confirmed the arrest in a telephone conversation with correspondent revealed the suspects were intercepted during a party ceremony on first of January, 2020.
The senior officer disclosed that the suspects who recently graduated from various tertiary institutions were arrested during a get-together organised to mark the completion of their education.
He stated that intelligence reports gathered by Hisbah operatives led to the arrest of the suspects who are between 20 and 22 years.
He revealed the suspects are currently under Hisbah custody noting that the agency had invited parents of the suspects for interrogation.
Homosexual is criminal offense in Nigeria which is against the the norms in some western countries.
President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 signed the bill that criminalised same-sex relationships in Nigeria after a unanimous passage by the national assembly.
The law provided penalties of up to 14 years sentence
